I payed a worldwide acount in May with costs of United states 180.-. Now I can non even use it because there is no posibility to admission with a Mac Version ten.vi.eight.
Microsoft says that it is possible on the oneline Version of Skype: That's a lie cause you demand a plug in that runs just with Mac. 10.9 or higher.
So: I reclaim officialy my money back and will not hesitate to have legal actions (appealing unjust enrichment) and I hope everybody who is damageded will exercise the same.

Terrible Customer service! I take classic iMac running 10.7.five Panthera leo and Microsoft just screwed upwards my international communications. I'thousand continuously directed to download and install 6.15 which doesn't work! I cannot run web Skype every bit was suggested in a Safari 6 browser which isn't available in 10.7.5. Microsoft seems to ruin everything that they bear upon merely they tin change that perception by letting us use Skype again. Ringlet back the changes!

I have viewed this word with involvement every bit I wasted several minutes downloading the old version I already had and restarting etc to get skype to work on my old faithful iMac (Bone X 10.vii.5)
I appreciate that you are the messenger here and Im certain nosotros are not aiming barbs at yous per se, just at Microsloth.
Its just frustrating and annoying to no longer take Skype working on our former desktops. I take an iPad and iPhone then still have call connectivity at least.

FYI... I, similar probably many other tinkerers keeping their old Macs running, have max'd out my Os X upgrades and can not upgrade any higher. And then 10.9 is not an option.

To others who have just thrown Skype in the trash...
I just used Facebook Messenger video call successfully from Australia to NZ and it worked OK. A lot of lag but better than null.

hmm, I wish that was truthful.
Came home to find out that my promart611 account that was hacked recently (read my other posts) was blocked and I cannot log in anymore from Samsung GT-N5100 tablet running Android version 4.4.4 does non allow me to log in even with the Microsoft business relationship and password!. Terminal night it was running fine and I idea that the damage was restricted only to my Os x.half-dozen.eight on my mbp. The tablet version of Skype has automatically updated alll the fourth dimension.
Allen, did you know about this or have an explanation for information technology?
Or is this something that yous guys prepared, unannounced of grade, as a 4th of July "gift" for all the users that don't have the latest phones/tablets/devices that run the latest versions of Android as per the FAQs I saw yesterday?
Forget about Mac Os x.6.eight-10.viii but if you guys accept sounded the death toll for the Android platform besides, I see Big troubles lying ahead.
This renders my promart611 business relationship useless, with $36 just put in it past automated renewal, besides as my Skype Pro subscription. And BTW Allen, refunds are bachelor only in EU (funny for a US-based corporation) because they have tougher laws on customer deception, and only if you tin log in in the Skype account. Nice!

My son is a loyal Skype user who has been paying since the starting time year Skype was introduced. For him and for me, this action is completely unacceptable. Microsoft must know that there are millions of Mac users who utilize Macs that are five, six, 8, and 10 years old. (Macs tend to take a much longer lifespan than PCs, and the resale value of a used Mac remains high for several years.) Near of us folks who relish our older Macs much prefer the stability (and smaller memory requirements) of earlier versions of the Mac OS. And some of us older folks tin can't even read the carte du jour bar or lists on after OS versions, where the system font from Lucida Grande to Helvetica.
Apple may endeavour to encourage us to use a later OS version, simply while they might say that they no longer back up an older version, they would never cripple an older version such that we can't use information technology. Firefox recently deprecated the earlier OSes past telling united states that nosotros couldn't upgrade to later version, but they didn't disable the last version that worked with those OSes. For all I know (and I don't really know), Windows users may be used to this sort of thing, but from the Mac side, this is just abhorrent behavior on Microsoft'due south part, and needs to be corrected ASAP.
I am only of those people who is heavily dependent on Skype for my life. To have to swtich to something else who be intensely disruptive.
Skype is primarily for making calls and sending chat messages. The fundamental technological principles of how those piece of work haven't changed for x yeas. Whatever new bells and whistles you've added that require features of Os versions later on than 10.6.8 are not needed by a great many of us, who merely need to make calls and chat.
Then, kindly either find a way for us to continue to use the Skype app for Mac (with older OS versions), or build a "lite" version that nosotros can use, that doesn't include anything that requires a later on Os version.
(And if Microsoft wants to know what we want, they can inquire u.s.a.. I have never received a survey, asking how I'd fell about moving to a afterward Os.)

Skype Classic ( v7.37+, current downloadable version is 7.59) does non run on 10.ix anymore and requires ten.10! MS even so claims on the requirements historic period that it is 10.ix uniform!
